Not only this, he is a famous television star as well praised by many household women. He is the Chairman of Malayalam Communications. During the start of his career, he owned a production company and a Casino. His production house has produced commercially successful films like Gandhi Nagar 2nd Street, Adiyozhukkukal and Nadodikkattu, Karimpin Poovinakkare.Mammootty is also the founder of, Megabytes, a television production company which has produced television serials Jwalayay in the 199 0s. Jwalayay was his first project as a producer and it received a lot of popularity.

For his fabulous work in the movies he has won many state Filmfare awards and eleven national Filmfare awards. Many of his incredible works are shown at International Film festival. His movie Mathilukal has been shown in 40 International Film Festival and has received a lot of critical acclaim.
