Begum Hazrat Mahal was the first wife of Nawab Ali Shah. This park was built in memory of her. She had a major contribution in the first freedom movement and it is this contribution of hers that the government wanted to honour by building her a memorial. This memorial was built in the old Victoria park which is now known as the Begum Harzat Mahal Park. The memorial is a beautiful piece of sculpture with colourful flowers adorning its surroundings.
