White and shiny nails are a sign of good health. It is always said that health gets reflected by nails. Good nails are a sign of good internal health. However sometimes we may get stains on the nails due to excessive use of chemicals of nail polishes or acrylic nail paints. If we have the habit of wearing fake nails then also there remains a high chance of getting stains on the nails from the glue that needs to be applied to fix fake nails on to original nails.

There are a few easy remedies to fight nail stains and get fairer and whiter nails. Today we will show you how you can easily whiten your nails following one of the below mentioned remedies.

Procedures For How to Whiten your Nails?

Procedure 1: Use of Lemon

As we all know lemon has natural bleaching properties. Lemon can be used to bleach any enamel of human body viz. Nails and Teeth as well. Therefore a simple home remedy to whiten your nails and get them rid of nail stains can be by using lemon on them.

Here is a simple procedure for the same.

Things You Will Need:

  • A plastic bowl
  • A nail cleanser brush or a normal toothbrush which is new and not used
  • 2-3 lemons of medium size
  • Required amount of water

Method:

Take a plastic bowl or a glass bowl and fill it 1/3rd with water and the rest 2/3rd with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Now dip your fingers into it and soak your nails for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure your nails do not have any base coat or any kind of nail polish on them. Your nails should be properly buffed and clipped before this procedure. Take out the nails after soaking them in water and brush the surface with the cleanser brush properly for 5-10 minutes. Dip into the water again and repeat the process. This should get stains out in one attempt or repeat it 2 or 3 times a week for best results. After stains are removed, do not continue to do this. Too much use of lemon juice on nails can damage your cuticles.

For an easier way, you can occasionally rub the surface of your nails with freshly cut lemon. Brush the surface and repeat as needed.

Procedure 2: Use of  Toothpaste

If toothpaste can give you cleaner teeth, it can also get you rid of nail stains. This is a very easy process.

Method:

Take whitening toothpaste and an unused tooth brush or a nail cleanser brush. Apply toothpaste on to the nail surfaces and keep them so for about 10 minutes. Now moisten the tooth brush and rub on the surface of the nails. Repeat this process 2-3 times a week till your stains are completely gone. Again, remember that before performing this procedure, your nails are complete free from any nail paints or base coat.

Procedure 3: Use of  Hydrogen Peroxide And Baking Soda

This is a chemical treatment and only we will recommend it for nails which are have severe nail stains. If you do not have severe nail stains, then please avoid this procedure because it is always best to go for natural remedies before anything else.
However, you can try this procedure in the following way.

Things Needed:

  • 2 plastic or a glass bowls
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide (3% concentration)
  • A piece of cotton
  • Nail soak or 2 tablespoons of shampoo
  • Water as required

Method:

First mix the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda into a bowl. Apply the mixture properly on to the nails where you have stains. If the stains are at the tips, then use the mixture on to the under surface too along with the top of the nails. Let the mixture sit for about 6-10 minutes. Now clean it with the cotton swab. In another bowl make a mixture of nail soak or shampoo and enough water to soak the nails. Dip the nails for about 5 minutes and soak your hands dry. Repeat the procedure as 2 times a week till your stains are completely gone.
