In the market, there are various products available that can give to a salon-like facial. However, the use of the chemical-based products should not be done regularly. There are ingredients straight from your kitchen self and refrigerator with the use of which you can get a natural herbal facial at home too. The basic steps can be followed at home and at your convenience.

Here is a basic all-purpose herbal facial for all skin types that can be done at home effortlessly. However, in case there are ingredients that do not suit your skin, you are welcome to experiment with alternatives.

Below are the step by step procedure of how to do herbal facial at home.

For Cleansing:

Ingredients: Raw Potato

Directions for Use: Grate the raw potato with a thick grater. Squeeze little juice from it and use the moist potato in a circular motion on the skin for about 5 minutes. Potatoes have phosphorus, potassium and sulphur that deeply cleanse the skin. Apply the squeezed juice and leave for 2 minutes. Then wipe with a moist tissue. This helps de-tan the skin and remove impurities. You can also apply the juice and use grated raw potatoes as an eye pad. The juice is refreshing and makes the skin feel fresh.

For Exfoliating:

Ingredients: ¼ cup Mashed Papayas & 1 tablespoon Oats

Directions for Use: Mix the ingredients and let it become soggy for 2 minutes. Then apply the paste on the face and in gentle circular motions starting from the lower face. This is effective in removing the dry and dead cells from the face and the papaya adds moisture to the skin. It has Vitamin A, C and E that give the skin its essential nutrients to give a healthy look. Oats on the other hand add texture to the pack and gentle to the skin. You can also use rice flour if oats does not suit your skin type. Later, wipe the face with a moist tissue.

For Toning:

Ingredients: 2-3 Tea Bags, a bowl of Hot Water & Ice Cubes

Directions for Use: Dip the tea bags in hot water and let it stay for 5 minutes. Using a thick cotton pad, apply the tea to the face. You can also do it with the help of wet tea bags. This makes the skin soft and opens the pores. Now with the help of a blackhead remover, squeeze off the impurities. Be gentle and do not damage your skin in the process. Apply warm tea bag for a few more minutes if necessary. After thorough cleansing, rub 4-5 ice cubes to close the open pores.

For Moisturizing:

Ingredients: 3 teaspoons Coconut Milk (or coconut water or orange juice), ½ teaspoon Honey, ½ mashed Ripe Banana and 6-8 drops of Olive Oil

Directions for Use: Mix all the ingredients except oil and taking small quantities rub on the skin for 30 minutes. Start in anti-clockwise motions from the cheeks and move to the forehead. Pay special attention to the T-Zone and nose area. Use only fingertips for the eye area. In between, take a few drops of Olive Oil and massage well. After you are done, clean the face with a moist tissue.

After thorough cleaning, you can now feel the difference the facial mask has made to your face. If you feel dryness, apply your regular moisturizer and let it stay. Do not use soap or any chemical for at least 24 hours.

The regime is easy and makes your skin glow and feel fresh. This can be done at home without spending a lot of time, energy and money at expensive salons.
