Mammootty is an India-based actor and producer who has mainly worked in Malayalam cinema. He has also acted in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada cinema. Mammootty has been in the industry for more than three decades now, and he has worked in around 360 films. In Malayalam films, he has performed many dual roles for which he gained immense stardom and popularity.
Mammootty is a philanthropist and believes in helping the needy and poor. He is been associated with a lot of projects, including NGO’s and charitable organisations in Kerala. He is the patron of the Pain and Palliative Care Society, a charitable organisation in Kerala. It is formulated to improve patients’ quality of life with advanced cancer symptoms. Mammootty has also put forth a novel project to provide proper care to those suffering from cancer throughout Kerala.
Mammootty belongs to an Indian middle-class Muslim family who has built his career on his own feet without any family precedent. The Indian media describe him as one of the finest and most versatile actors in Indian Cinema. They say he is bestowed and lauded with versatility and natural acting ability. He has a megastar effect in Malayalam movies. His choices of movies are praised often as his films have content. His roles are generally ‘larger than life male-oriented roles’. Jwalayay was his first project as a producer, and it received a lot of popularity.
He has won many state Filmfare awards and eleven national Filmfare awards for his fabulous work in the movies. Many of his incredible works are shown at the International Film festival. His movie Mathilukal has been demonstrated at 40 International Film festivals and has received critical acclaim.
